Arjun Chakrabarty on Noyontara: Colors TV is soon launching ‘Noyontara’, a supernatural thriller series rooted in Bengali culture. The show stars Arjun Chakrabarty, Shruti Bhist, and Narayani Shastri in prominent roles. Arjun plays the character of Dr. Surjo Sengupta, a talented doctor.
Arjun Chakrabarty Talks About TV Debut
On the occasion of the show’s launch and the shoot of its first episode, Mayapuri magazine caught up with Arjun Chakrabarty. In this interaction, Arjun opened up about his character, his experience working with Shruti Bhist and Narayani Shastri, and what it was like stepping into Hindi television for the first time. Here's what he had to say:
- What’s your character’s name in the show, and can you tell us something about him?
In the show, I play Dr. Surjo Sengupta. He’s a successful doctor — both professionally and personally. As a son, a brother, and a human being, he is quite sensitive. But there’s a deep sorrow in his life — he has lost the true love of his life, and that incident shattered him from within. Now, he lives in silence, withdrawn, and has decided never to let love enter his life again. That’s why, even in the promo, he tells Noyontara — “I won’t be able to love you like a husband.”
- How has the experience been working with experienced actors like Narayani Shastri and Shruti Bhist?
Narayani Ma’am is a senior in the industry, and Shruti too has vast experience in Hindi television. But neither of them ever made me feel like an outsider or a newcomer. They embraced me like family and created a very comfortable environment. Working with them has been extremely smooth.
- This is your first time working in Hindi television. How was the experience? Also, TV is said to have a tough schedule. What are your thoughts?
Yes, this is my debut in Hindi television. The experience has been wonderful, though I must admit the schedule is quite demanding. Unlike films, where things wrap up in 25–30 days, TV requires daily shooting. But this very routine also helps maintain a continuous connection with the audience. So, I see it as a positive challenge.
- Many believe films and OTT offer more reach and glamour. What’s your take?
I don’t think there’s any concrete research or report on that. Personally, I believe that whatever work you have, you should do it with honesty and consistency. Instead of wasting time worrying about the future, it’s better to focus on the present. Dreaming and planning are important, but the real focus should be on ‘today’.
- What are your expectations from the Hindi audience?
Just like the audience in Bengal accepted and appreciated me and my work, I hope the Hindi audience shows the same love to Noyontara. The show has everything — thrill, mystery, culture, and emotion. I truly believe viewers will find themselves connected to it.
For the record, Noyontara will air on Colors TV from June 9, 2025, Monday to Friday at 8:30 PM.
